Ultrasound Machine Checklist

🔧 Ultrasound Machine Checklist

1. Power & Safety:

  • Machine powers ON/OFF properly
  • Power cables intact, no frays/damage
  • Battery backup functional (if available)
  • Proper electrical grounding

2. Monitor & Display:

  • Monitor brightness/contrast adjusted
  • No dead pixels or display flickering
  • Touchscreen (if available) responsive

3. Transducers / Probes:

  • Correct probes connected (linear, convex, phased, endocavitary, etc.)
  • No cracks, cuts, or exposed wiring
  • Acoustic lens intact, no gel leakage
  • Probe connectors secure
  • Perform probe self-test (if machine supports it)

4. Image Quality:

  • Gray-scale imaging clear and uniform
  • Depth, focus, and gain controls working
  • Doppler (color, PW, CW) functioning
  • Image freeze, save, and print working

5. Control Panel:

  • All knobs, trackball, and buttons working
  • Preset selection available for different exams
  • Keyboard responsive

6. Software & System:

  • Correct patient entry (ID, name, DOB) possible
  • Presets load correctly
  • Report generation working
  • PACS/DICOM connectivity tested (if applicable)

7. Accessories:

  • Adequate supply of ultrasound gel
  • Clean, disinfected transducer covers available
  • Printer/paper working (if in use)

8. Cleaning & Disinfection:

  • Transducers cleaned/disinfected after last use
  • Control panel and screen wiped (infection control)
  • Probe holders and gel bottle cleaned

9. Documentation:

  • Machine logbook updated (usage, maintenance, service)
  • Error messages recorded and reported
  • Preventive maintenance schedule followed

10. Daily Checklist:

  • Power ON/OFF properly

  • Probes free of cracks, cuts, gel leakage
  • Ultrasound gel available
  • Machine and probes cleaned/disinfected after use

11. Weekly Checklist:

  • Doppler (Color, PW, CW) functioning
  • Image freeze, save, and print working
  • Control panel buttons, knobs, and trackball responsive
  • Monitor brightness/contrast adjusted properly

12. Monthly Checklist:

  • DICOM/PACS connectivity tested
  • Patient entry, presets, and report generation verified
  • Software functioning without errors
  • Printer/paper tested (if applicable)
  • Preventive maintenance log updated
  • Service errors/issues recorded and reported
