2. Section-Wise Detailed Syllabus

Part A: Professional Ability (Radiography - 70 Marks)

  • Human Anatomy & Physiology: Basic organizational structure of the human body, muscular system, skeletal system, joint classifications, internal organs, cardiovascular system, respiratory system, and surface anatomy relevant to positioning.
  • Radiology Physics & General Physics: Electromagnetic spectrum, principles of X-ray production, properties of X-rays, factors affecting image quality (kVp, mAs, SID, OID, focal spot size), photoelectric effect, and Compton scattering.
  • Radiation Physics & Radiation Safety: Biological effects of ionizing radiation, ALARA principles, cardinal rules (Time, Distance, Shielding), radiation monitoring devices (TLD badges, film badges, dosimeters), AERB dosage limits, and radiation shielding protocols.
  • X-Ray Machines, Accessories & Maintenance: X-ray tube construction, rotating and stationary anodes, cooling systems, anti-scatter grids, collimators, filtration, high-voltage generators, and basic maintenance protocols.
  • Image Processing & Dark Room Techniques: Conventional film processing (developer, fixer, washing, drying), Computed Radiography (CR) and Imaging Plates, Digital Radiography (DR) and Flat Panel Detectors, Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS), and DICOM standards.
  • Clinical Radiography & Positioning: Standard projections and views (AP, PA, Lateral, Oblique) for Chest, Abdomen, Skull, Spine (Cervical, Thoracic, Lumbar, Sacrum), Upper/Lower Extremities, and Pelvis.
  • Contrast & Special Radiography Procedures: Types of contrast media (positive and negative), adverse reaction management, procedures including Barium Swallow, Barium Meal, Barium Enema, Intravenous Urography (IVU), Hysterosalpingography (HSG), and Myelography.
  • Modern Imaging Modalities: Basic physical principles, clinical applications, and instrumentation of Computed Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Ultrasound, Mammography, Dental Radiography, and Nuclear Medicine.
  • Medical Ethics & Patient Care: Patient management, infection control, handling emergency situations in the X-ray room, patient consent protocols, and specialized radiation protection for pediatric and pregnant patients.

  • Chemistry: Chemical Reactions, Acids, Bases & Salts, Metals & Non-Metals, and Periodic Classification.

Part C: General Awareness (10 Marks)
